MSUN’s SIBOL Program secures ₱5-Million CHED funding for TBI

Mindanao State University at Naawan marked another milestone in innovation and enterprise development as its Student-Based Incubation Program at MSU at Naawan: Bridging Technology and Entrepreneurship by Optimizing Ideas to Leverage Start-up Development, or SIBOL, received a ₱5-million funding grant from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

SIBOL, which will be implemented under the Technology Business Incubation (TBI) Program, was approved for funding by the Commission en Banc as part of CHED’s UN Sustainable Development Goals-based priority programs. The initiative aims to strengthen the role of higher education institutions in nurturing technology-driven ideas, student entrepreneurship, and start-up development.

The ceremonial awarding of grants for the TBI Program was held on June 10, 2026, during the 32nd CHED Anniversary Strategic Partnership Convergence. The grant was received on behalf of Mindanao State University by Executive Vice President Dr. Abdulcader M. Ayo and Manila Information Office Director Hannah G. Marquez.

Anchored on innovation, mentorship, and entrepreneurial growth, SIBOL is designed to support students in transforming promising ideas into viable start-up ventures. Through the program, student innovators are expected to gain access to incubation support, capacity-building opportunities, technical guidance, and linkages that can help advance their concepts toward practical and market-responsive solutions.

The ₱5-million CHED grant is expected to boost MSU at Naawan’s efforts to build a stronger ecosystem for student-led innovation, especially in areas aligned with sustainable development, technology commercialization, and community impact.

With this recognition and support from CHED, MSU at Naawan continues to affirm its commitment to empowering young innovators and advancing responsive, inclusive, and sustainable development through education, research, and entrepreneurship.
