Center for Innovative Aquaculture and Sustainable Marine Resources (IAQUA)

The Center for Innovative Aquaculture and Sustainable Marine Resources Research (iAQUA Research Center) is envisioned as a premier research hub dedicated to advancing the fields  of aquaculture and marine resource management. As the global demand for seafood and  marine resources continues to grow, there is an increasing need for sustainable practices  and innovative solutions to ensure the health of aquatic ecosystems and the viability of the  industries that depend on them. The iAQUA Research Center aims to address these pressing issues through cutting-edge research, technological advancements, and collaborative partnerships, solidifying the University’s role as a leader in sustainable aquaculture and  marine conservation.

Its mission is grounded in a commitment to fostering resilience, sustainability, and  productivity in aquatic systems, which aligns with both local and global efforts to combat the  challenges of overfishing, habitat degradation, and the environmental impacts of traditional  aquaculture practices. By consolidating the University’s diverse research efforts under one  center, the iAQUA Research Center will serve as a dynamic platform for innovation, resource  optimization, and strategic research collaborations.
