On June 18, 2026, Mindanao State University at Naawan (MSUN) and the Women’s Federation for World Peace International – Philippine Chapter (WFWPI-Philippines) officially established a collaborative framework by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during a morning ceremony held at the Office of the Chancellor Conference Room.  During the initial dialogue, university administrators met with the visiting delegation, which included WFWPI-Philippines President Juvy V. Delmonte and Corporate Secretary Dr. Janet Kabayama. Together, they explored a multi-dimensional approach to local challenges, bridging discussions between environmental security programs like “Fish to Peace” aquaculture extension and adapting localized livelihood programs to harness the university’s developing smart campus infrastructure for community digital skill-building. Building directly on the momentum of the morning’s institutional commitment, the focus shifted to active student engagement in the afternoon with the Orientation on the Peace Design Project at the MSUN Audio-Visual Room. The specialized orientation session was attended by a dynamic collective of student stakeholders, including 43 students from the College of Environment and Life Sciences, ROTC cadets, Supreme Student Council and Seniors’ Students Society officers, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials, and local Naawan youth leaders. Setting the administrative tone for the gathering, Assoc. Prof. Desheree Judena G. Preciado, Director of the Office of Institutional Planning and Development (OIPD), welcomed the participants by highlighting how true peacebuilding transcends the mere absence of conflict, remaining structurally interlinked with local socioeconomic stability and environmental climate adaptation.  This perspective was further enriched by MSUN Chancellor Dr. Elnor C. Roa, who delivered an inspiring message reminding the youth that peace must be intentionally learned, practiced, and constructed, challenging the gathered student leaders to step forward as today’s active architects of community transformation. The main event of the afternoon concluded with the core Peace Design Orientation conducted by Mr. Jun Young Teves, President of the International Association of Youth and Students for Peace (IAYSP) – Pilipinas.  In collaboration with the WFWPI network represented by Ms. Delmonte and Dr. Kabayama, the orientation provided the youth with foundational concepts for proposal structures, intentionally designed to uncover local talents and empower young citizens to construct, fund, and manage sustainable peace initiatives directly within their respective societies.

MSUN-IDS celebrates excellence, character in 2026 recognition, completion, and graduation rites

Mindanao State University at Naawan – Integrated Developmental School (MSUN-IDS) honored the achievements and milestones of its learners during its 55th High School Recognition Program, 9th Commencement Exercises, and 11th Completion Ceremonies held on June 10-11, 2026, at the MSUN Training and Student Activity Center. Anchored on the theme, “Filipino Learners: Empowered to Lead with Competence and Character,” the celebration brought together students, parents, guardians, faculty members, school administrators, and guests to recognize the hard work, perseverance, and holistic growth of learners across all grade levels for School Year 2025-2026. The 55th Recognition Program gave distinction to students who excelled not only in academics, but also in leadership, campus journalism, regional sports competitions, and international science and mathematics olympiads. The ceremony underscored the school’s commitment to developing well-rounded learners who continue to bring pride to the institution through excellence in various fields. Serving as guest speaker for the recognition program was Engr. Rus Jerove C. Mugot, a Class of 1997 alumnus, who inspired the awardees through his personal story and message of hope, resilience, and purposeful leadership. “My dearest learners, your future is not determined by where you started, it is determined by what you choose to do with the opportunities before you. You have the power to learn, you have the ability to grow, you have the potential to lead,” Engr. Mugot said. The event was further enlivened by performances from the MSUN-IDS Universal Dancers, the Phoenix Chorale, and the Tabodagat Dance Troupe, showcasing the learners’ artistic talent and appreciation for culture. A heartfelt moment capped the recognition program when the student body stood before the audience and expressed a loud collective message of gratitude to their parents, guardians, and teachers, acknowledging the guidance and sacrifices that helped them overcome challenges throughout the school year. Before the 9th Commencement Exercises and 11th Completion Ceremonies, MSUN-IDS held its Baccalaureate Ceremony, providing the completers and graduates a solemn moment of reflection, thanksgiving, and spiritual grounding before formally receiving their academic honors.  With Bro. Michael P. Macalong serving as baccalaureate speaker, the ceremony served as a meaningful pause for the learners to recognize the people, values, and experiences that shaped their journey, while preparing their hearts for the next chapter of their education and life.   The 9th Commencement Exercises marked another significant chapter for the graduating class as they formally completed their high school journey. With the theme, “Filipino Graduates: Prepared to Lead with Competence and Character ,” the ceremony celebrated not only academic completion, but also the values and formation that the graduates will carry beyond the walls of MSUN-IDS. Dr. Mary Anne Dadole Madulara, a Batch 2004 alumna, served as guest speaker for the commencement exercises. In her address, she reminded the graduates that every achievement is strengthened by the support of people who believed in them. “Graduation is never the achievement of one person alone. Behind every graduate are people who prayed, sacrificed, encouraged, corrected, and believed,” Dr. Madulara said. “This year’s theme, Filipino graduates prepared to lead with competence and character, is both timely and important.” She encouraged the graduates to move forward with humility, courage, and responsibility, emphasizing that true success is measured not only by personal accomplishments, but also by one’s ability to lead with integrity and serve others with compassion. Meanwhile, the 11th Completion Ceremonies recognized the Grade 10 learners who successfully reached a key academic transition, symbolizing their readiness to advance to the next level of learning with greater confidence and purpose.  Through the conduct of the three ceremonies, MSUN-IDS highlighted the value of shared effort in education, recognizing the vital roles of families, mentors, and the school community in shaping learners into competent and character-driven individuals. As the School Year 2025–2026 formally came to a close, MSUN-IDS reaffirmed its mission to provide meaningful learning experiences that empower students to excel, lead, and contribute to the wider community.
