Mindanao State University at Naawan

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Global Engagement (OVCRIGE) conducted a two-day Publication Writeshop for faculty members of the College of Business and Information Technology (CBIT) on March 23 to 24, 2026, at the Research Function Room of Mindanao State University at Naawan. The activity aimed to strengthen faculty capacity in research writing, manuscript preparation, and journal publication, while providing a focused environment for developing publishable manuscripts.

The program opened with welcome remarks from Dr. Lilibeth P. Coronel, Dean of the College of Business and Information Technology, who emphasized the importance of research publication in advancing academic excellence and encouraged faculty members to enhance their scholarly writing and publication readiness.

A key session was delivered by Dr. Rey Y. Capangpangan, Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Global Engagement, who discussed the research publication process and strategies for selecting appropriate journals. This was followed by a lecture from Dr. Benjoe Rey B. Visayas, Director for Global Engagement and Partnerships, on writing for peer-reviewed journals, highlighting structure, style, common pitfalls, and ethical considerations in publishing. An orientation and open discussion further guided participants on manuscript preparation, submission requirements, and publication standards.

The writeshop proper provided participants with dedicated time to work on their manuscripts, refine their drafts, and receive guidance from facilitators. On the second day, participants continued their writing, followed by manuscript presentations and a peer review session that enabled constructive feedback and further refinement prior to journal submission.

The activity concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Anabelle Dece A. Espadero, Director of the Research and Innovation Institute, who commended the participants for their active engagement and emphasized the importance of sustaining a strong research and publication culture within the University.

Through this initiative, OVCRIGE continues to support faculty researchers by providing structured mentoring, practical training, and collaborative opportunities that enhance research productivity and expand the University’s presence in reputable scholarly publications.
