MSU at Naawan Meets with Développement international Desjardins (DID)
On May 2, 2026, representatives from Développement international Desjardins (DID) visited Mindanao State University at Naawan as part of the initial implementation phase of the Increased Resilience to Natural Disasters for Women Agro-Entrepreneurs in the Philippines (KLIMA) Project. The KLIMA Project, funded by Global Affairs Canada, aims to strengthen the resilience of women agro-entrepreneurs, particularly in addressing climate-related risks and natural disasters affecting agricultural livelihoods. The DID team, composed of Consultant Veronique Doyon, Advisor Isabelle Johnson, and Project Coordinator Celyna Joy Ng Co, engaged in productive discussions with MSUN representatives, including ATBI Project Leader Karem A. Palmes, University Extension Specialist Harry Kenn De La Rosa, OGEP Director Benjoe Rey B. Visayas, International Program Manager Athena Jenica A. Castillo, and Darlene Reble. The discussions highlighted the University’s initiatives in agri-aqua innovation, enterprise development, and community-based incubation programs, with particular emphasis on supporting women entrepreneurs. The delegation was also given a tour of MSUN facilities, including processing areas and aquaculture hatcheries. The engagement served as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and potential collaboration, aligning MSUN’s ATBI, extension, and innovation efforts with the broader objectives of the KLIMA Project. It also underscored the vital role of women in agriculture and entrepreneurship. Both parties expressed a shared commitment to strengthening partnerships that promote inclusive and climate-resilient livelihoods in vulnerable communities. In addition, MSUN representatives, including OES Director Dr. Aida D. Perpetua and CHRIS Center Head Christian Fel Batoctoy, participated in the Multi-Stakeholder Consultation Forum held on May 5 in Cagayan de Oro City, contributing insights and perspectives to the project’s development. This engagement reinforces a shared commitment to working together in empowering communities, particularly women, and advancing practical, inclusive, and climate-resilient solutions for sustainable livelihoods.
