Mindanao State University at Naawan

The Mindanao State University at Naawan (MSUN) College of Business and Information Technology (CBIT) showcased student-driven research and innovation during the 2026 Student Research Colloquium held on June 30, 2026 at the MSUN Audio-Visual Room.

Guided by the theme, “Ignite: Sparking Innovation Across Business, People & Technology,” the event gathered student researchers, faculty members, and evaluators in a celebration of scholarly excellence, highlighting research outputs born from months of rigorous study, collaboration, and critical inquiry.

Welcoming the participants, CBIT Dean Dr. Lilibeth P. Coronel described the colloquium as a venue where ideas are transformed into meaningful solutions and where knowledge is translated into real-world applications. She emphasized that the students’ research embodied months of dedication, collaboration, perseverance, and intellectual growth, while encouraging meaningful discussions that would further strengthen the college’s commitment to innovation across people, business, and technology.

Serving as the plenary speaker, Dr. Benjoe Rey B. Visayas challenged the student researchers to view innovation not merely as technological advancement but as the ability to identify real-world problems and develop practical, people-centered solutions to these problems. Drawing from his own journey as a researcher and entrepreneur, he underscored that research is most impactful when it remains honest, clear, purposeful, and relevant, reminding students that the value of their work lies not in how complex it appears, but in how meaningfully it addresses the needs of communities and industries.

Throughout the day, student researchers confidently defended their studies before a panel of evaluators, demonstrating not only the quality of their research but also the perseverance and teamwork that shaped each project. Their presentations reflected the university’s commitment to cultivating analytical thinking, creativity, and research-driven solutions while providing students with valuable experience in academic discourse.
