Center for Microplastic and Innovation (CMRI) – Services
Services
The Center for Microplastic Research and Innovation (CMRI) is dedicated to advancing research and fostering innovation in the fight against microplastic pollution. As a hub for cutting-edge science and interdisciplinary collaboration, we provide specialized services aimed at addressing environmental sustainability, public health, and safety. The Center also promotes knowledge sharing and method transfer by providing access to validated laboratory protocols for microplastic isolation and analysis to promote harmonized and comparable research practices. Our services are designed to support students, researchers, industries, and institutions in understanding and mitigating the impact of microplastics on ecosystems, food safety, and human health.
Training for Microplastic Isolation and Characterization
We offer in-depth, hands-on training programs focused on the isolation, characterization, and analysis of microplastics. Participants will gain practical experience in the collection of microplastic samples, preparation of substrates, and identification of particles. Our training is rooted in the latest scientific methods and research protocols, empowering trainees with the skills to conduct independent microplastic research and contribute to broader environmental monitoring efforts.

FTIR Analysis
The Center offers Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy services. This technique is essential for identifying polymer types in microplastic particles, contributing to our understanding of their sources, distribution, and impact on the environment. FTIR analysis is crucial for researchers seeking to explore the chemical properties of microplastics in environmental matrices, food, or other substances.

Note: CMRI is still in the process of institutionalization and, therefore, does not operate on a direct payment basis for services. Instead, we collaborate with partners under Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) or Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). These partnerships enable the Center to offer services, conduct joint research, and share expertise without the need for financial transactions. All engagements are established through formal collaborative arrangements, ensuring that both parties benefit from shared resources, knowledge, and innovation.
