MSUN formally receives THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 certificates in Indonesia

What began as a first attempt to place Mindanao State University at Naawan (MSUN) on a global sustainability platform has now become a defining milestone in the University’s continuing story of service, research, and community transformation.
On June 23, 2026, MSUN formally received its Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 certificates during the fifth annual Global Sustainable Development Congress held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Receiving the certificates on behalf of the University were MSUN Chancellor Dr. Elnor C. Roa; Dr. Rey Y. Capangpangan, Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Global Engagement; Dr. Anabelle D. Espadero, Director for Research and Publication Services; and Dr. Aida P. Perpetua, Director for Extension Services.
For MSUN, the recognition is more than a global ranking. It is a reflection of years of initiatives, partnerships, research outputs, extension programs, and community engagements that have quietly grown from the University’s mandate to serve. From classrooms and laboratories to coastal communities and partner institutions, MSUN’s work has continued to respond to real needs while contributing to broader sustainability goals.
In the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, MSUN secured a global rank of 1001–1500 and earned rankings across ten Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG 1 – rank 601–800
SDG 2 – rank 401–600
SDG 3 – rank 1001+
SDG 4 – rank 1001+
SDG 5 – rank 401–600
SDG 8 – rank 801–1000
SDG10 – rank 801+
SDG 14 – rank 201–300
SDG 16 – rank 801+
SDG 17 – rank 601–800
Among these, the University’s strongest performance was recorded in SDG 14: Life Below Water, where MSUN ranked 201–300 globally, affirming its long-standing commitment to marine science, aquatic research, coastal resource management, and community-based sustainability efforts.
This achievement highlights the collective efforts of MSUN’s faculty, researchers, staff, students, partner communities, and institutional leaders who continue to transform everyday academic and extension work into measurable impact. It also strengthens the University’s pursuit of international visibility while remaining deeply anchored in its local mandate.
Through this global recognition, MSUN reaffirms that sustainability is not only found in large-scale declarations, but also in consistent service, inclusive partnerships, research that responds to community needs, and programs that protect both people and the environment.
As MSUN formally receives its certificates in Indonesia, it carries with it a story shaped by many hands — a story of a University that continues to rise globally while remaining rooted in the communities it serves.
