“‘WE’ signifies Women and Everyone,” highlighted Mindanao State University at Naawan (MSUN) Chancellor Dr. Elnor C. Roa during the National Women’s Month Kick-Off Ceremony of the university held on March 9, 2026.

Spearheaded by the Office of Gender and Development (OGAD), the MSUN community gathered for a vibrant morning dedicated to recognizing the invaluable role and contributions of women in society and within the university.

“This is more than a date; it’s a powerful declaration, a vibrant celebration, and a solemn reaffirmation of our collective commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment,” emphasized Dr. Roa in a message delivered by OIPD Director Assoc. Prof. Desheree Judena Preciado.

The celebration began with the I Juana Walk, a campus unity walk where members of the MSUN community filled the grounds in a sea of purple to show solidarity and support for women’s empowerment before the regular flag-raising ceremony.

During the program, vice chancellors, deans, and directors also pledged their commitment to advancing gender equality and strengthening initiatives that promote an inclusive, gender-responsive university community.

The kick-off activity concluded with the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the National Women’s Month booth, marking the start of month-long activities dedicated to celebrating women, raising awareness on gender issues, and promoting equality across the MSUN community.
