Services
Coastal mapping via remote sensing using drone
CoReM Hub can provide georeferenced thematic coastal zone and coastal habitat maps via remote sensing using drones incorporating the GIS and Photogrammetry applications. It is our understanding that these materials can aid in the formulation of a comprehensive management policy and plans for every coastal community.
Coastal habitat and Biodiversity assessment (mangrove, seagrass, coral reef)
The Hub offers services for coastal habitat and biodiversity assessments which are needed to help select the priority areas both for sustainable development and environment conservation. We assess the health and status of coastal habitats such as mangroves, seagrass beds, and coral reefs over space and time, which is essential in evaluating long-term ecosystem health, and informing management actions to address threatening processes.
Coral Reef Assessment
We assess and evaluate coral reefs by adopting state-of-the-art appropriate survey methods to provide science-based data to formulate effective management policies for conservation and coastal environment sustainability. We trained stakeholders to become equipped with knowledge and skills, thereby developing a pool of “citizen scientists” and good leaders in the community.
Coral Transplantation
Some economic developments in coastal communities may have a significant negative impact on corals. CoReM Hub, however, has developed technology for corals transplantation, i.e., relocating impacted corals to favorable sites thereby mitigating the impact while providing recommendations making the project environmentally sensitive.
Coastal Integrity Vulnerability Assessment and Coastal Impact Assessment
We provide guidance for climate change adaptation planning by measuring the vulnerability of coastal ecosystems to a variety of climate-related hazards such as changes in sea level rise, frequency of typhoons and project impact.
Coastal Ecosystem Valuation
We recognized the importance of adopting concepts and tools supporting the robustness of the science-based data for a comprehensive coastal resource management action. The CoRem Hub can provide tools, techniques and conduct valuation of benefits derived from the ecosystem services.
Environmental profiling and monitoring and Related Services
We also provide services on developments requiring environmental profiling, monitoring, and other related services e.g., provide assistance for industries to become environmentally compliant.
Policy and Governance
Trained local leaders in eco-governance i.e., ecologically and economically oriented policy makers and implementers that ensures the eco-responsibility of certain individuals and organizations to obtain ecological sustainable prosperity.
