𝐌𝐒𝐔𝐍-𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐒’ 𝐏𝐄 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐄 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒

With the theme “Honing and Unleashing Greatness in You through Activities and Wellness” (HUGYAW), the Physical Education (PE) instructors of Mindanao State University at Naawan – College of Education and Social Sciences (MSUN-CESS) kicked off the annual PE Day on April 26, 2024. Through the efforts of Assoc. Prof. Rosevel B. Colegado, Asst. Prof. Jay Philmore B. Ansale, Ms. Odette D. Otero, Mr. Jestone Navarrete, Mr. Ivan Jee Juezan, and Mr. Kevin Luzano, the inception of the first PE Day became a reality. The event began an hour before dawn with an Endurance Hike from MSUN-Integrated Developmental School to Barangays Patag, Don Pedro, and Tiwi, then back to Poblacion and concluding at the MSUN campus with students enrolled in PED014: Choice of Team Sports, Outdoor, and Adventure Activities, assisted by selected Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Officers. After the hike, participants engaged in Camp Pitching and Camp Cooking activities, fostering camaraderie and practical skills in outdoor settings. Meanwhile, other students initiated volleyball and soccer tournaments on the MSUN grounds. The program officially started in the afternoon with presentations of TABATA, TAEBO, Aerobic, Zumba, and Agilhythm Exercises by different first and second-year students. The program was graced by the presence of Asst. Prof. Aileen Joyce C. Lim, the Chairperson of MSUN-CESS Department of Social Science and Humanities, who warmly welcomed the participants, and Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs Asst. Prof. Gergie A. Ambato, who delivered an inspiring message, acknowledging the energy and effort put forth by everyone involved. “We see the tension, we see the pressure, we see the stress, and that translates to energy that you gave today,” highlighted Asst. Prof. Ambato. Subsequently, the declaration of winners took place, awarding teams that demonstrated great strength and vigor in sports. Asst. Prof. Ansale gave the closing remarks, expressing gratitude to all the participants for their invaluable participation, before the mob dance led by PE instructors concluded the first annual PE day.

𝐍𝐎𝐌𝐂𝐀𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐃 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐌𝐒𝐔𝐍 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬

To discuss opportunities for collaboration, the Northern Mindanao Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (NOMCAARRD) paid a courtesy visit to the Mindanao State University at Naawan (MSUN) on April 24, 2024. The delegation, led by Dr. Maria Estela B. Detalla, Consortium Director, included Prof. Sheila C. Poonon, R&D Cluster Coordinator; Dr. Agnes S. Riñon, Technology Transfer Coordinator; Dr. Lucerne M. Razalo, Science Communication Cluster Coordinator; Prof. Rinante M. Buntod, ICT Cluster Coordinator; and Ms. Hiedy S. Cañete, Science Research Assistant. They received a warm welcome from Asst. Prof. Gergie A. Ambato, Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and current Officer-in-Charge, as well as attendees from the MSUN-Extension Division led by Director Assoc. Prof. Mariefe B. Quiñones, University Extension Specialist Mr. Harry Kenn T. Dela Rosa, and Extension Division Secretary Asst. Prof. Russel D. Bañoc. During the visit, Dr. Detalla expressed their utmost gratitude to MSUN for being one of the strongest collaborative supporters among several universities and government agencies. The primary objectives of the visit were to express appreciation for the existing partnership and to explore other potential areas of collaboration. During the discussion, NOMCAARRD also sought support for upcoming events in collaboration with other agencies. Furthermore, NOMCAARRD has established a collaborative partnership with MSUN in several programs and initiatives and by serving as one of the funding agencies and evaluators for the university’s research and extension projects.

Emerging triumphantly from the depths, the Mindanao State University at Naawan-Integrated Developmental School (MSUN-IDS) participants in the Swimming category emerged victorious during the Misamis Oriental, El Salvador, Gingoog City Athletic Association (MORESGAA) Meet 2024 on April 17-20, 2024, in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental. Bringing home a total of 27 gold and 16 silver medals, representatives were coached and chaperoned by MSUN-IDS faculty members Ms. Vebhie Joy Salvan and Mr. Lodelieto Solano. The MSU at Naawan officials, faculty, and staff, with the MSUN-Office of the Cultural and Sports Development would like to congratulate the athletes as they succeeded and brought honor and pride to the institution and the province. Additionally, the student-athletes would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the MSUN Administration and the Office of the Municipal Mayor of Naawan for the support and transportation.

On April 19, 2024, the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) paid a visit to Mindanao State University at Naawan (MSUN) to conduct implementation briefing on the project “𝙀𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩-𝙁𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙡𝙮 𝙀𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙮𝙣𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙐𝙧𝙚𝙖 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝘾𝙊2 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙉𝙞𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙍𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝘾𝙪-𝘽𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝘽𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙘 𝙉𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙨”. During the briefing, the delegates had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the members of the project team, establishing a connection that fosters collaboration and effective communication throughout the project’s duration. They engaged in discussions to outline the specific requirements and guidelines crucial for the smooth implementation of the project, ensuring that everyone involved understands their roles and responsibilities. Additionally, the meeting provided a platform to address any uncertainties or questions related to budget allocation, reprogramming procedures, and the necessary approvals required, all of which are vital elements for ensuring the project’s success.  By clarifying these aspects upfront, the team can proactively address potential challenges and maintain a clear pathway towards achieving the project’s objectives within the designated timeframe and budget constraints.

MSUN Digitalization Phase II commenced today

With the commencement of Phase II of the Mindanao State University at Naawan’s (MSUN) digitalization efforts, the joint venture of Infobytes Solutions Inc. and Remax International Inc. held an On-site Project Kick-off for the project “𝙎𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝘿𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙀𝙣𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚” on April 16, 2024, at MSUN. At the kick-off event, key stakeholders from MSUN and the implementing companies came together to unveil the project’s management teams and lay out strategic plans. The MSUN project management team is headed by Chancellor Dr. Elnor C. Roa, while Comm. Raymund E. Liboro oversees the joint venture of contractors Infobytes Solutions Inc. and Remax International Inc. “Today marks the beginning of an incredible journey as we embark on our one-billion-peso project, together. In this kick-off meeting, I would like to emphasize three things: one is the importance of efficiency, second is timeliness, and third is accountability, in the execution of the project,” said Dr. Roa during her welcome remarks. Building upon the success of Phase I, which included Smart Aquaculture, Phase II brings a new dimension with Smart Agriculture initiatives. This phase introduces the Technology Application of Neural Intelligence in Mechanized (TANIM) Agriculture System and the Advanced Watershed Rehabilitation Management Information System (AWaRe MIS) for the College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Science (CAFES) while also extending the connectivity towards remote areas around CAFES. Additionally, Phase II includes the Smart Modular Learning Hub, enhancing the groundwork laid in Phase I and ensuring a seamless transition into a digitally optimized educational environment. The project’s overarching goal is to revolutionize the learning experience through comprehensive digital transformation, addressing critical needs for a smart campus. Leveraging state-of-the-art technologies and innovative solutions, this initiative aims to cultivate an environment conducive to unparalleled educational opportunities and the seamless integration of digital tools across all facets of campus life. From streamlining administrative workflows to enriching interactive learning platforms, the project is poised to elevate MSUN’s academic ecosystem to unprecedented levels of efficiency, efficacy, and student engagement.

To recognize students exceptional academic achievement, the Mindanao State University at Naawan – Integrated Developmental School (MSUN-IDS) conducted 3rd Junior High School (JHS) Reading of Honors at the MSUN Training and Students Activity Center on April 5, 2024. Assoc. Prof. Rosalina L. Divinagracia, Principal of MSUN-IDS, commenced the day’s proceedings by extending a warm welcome to students and parents, applauding their notable accomplishments. Furthermore, Chancellor Dr. Elnor C. Roa, delivered her inspirational message urging them to persist in the pursuit of excellence. “To all students, I encourage you to continue pursuing excellence, to believe in yourselves, and to never shy away from reaching for your dreams. Each of you has unique talents and strengths that make you special. Embrace these qualities, work hard, and strive to be the best version of yourselves,” said Dr. Roa. After the reading of honors, the eagerly awaited Mr. and Ms. ReSciMaTech 2024 contest commenced, filling the MSUN TSAC with excitement. Participants from Grades 7 to 12 competed through advocacy videos and discussions on topics related to Research, Science, Mathematics, and Information Technology, showcasing their creativity and knowledge. Candidates from Grade 7 to 12 vied for the title through their advocacy video, wit in explaining the hashtags with topics from Research, Science, Mathematics, and Information Technology subjects, centering on the impact on educational landscape and the society, and recycled materials outfits.
