The College of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (CFMS) is an academic unit of Mindanao State University at Naawan, an autonomous external campus of the Mindanao State University System located in Poblacion, Naawan, Misamis Oriental, Philippines. The College was formally established in 2025 with the merger of the School of Marine Fisheries and Technology (SMFT) and the College of Marine and Allied Sciences’ Department of Marine Biology and Department of Physical Sciences and Mathematics. This strategic integration created a stronger academic and research institution that consolidates MSU at Naawan’s long-standing expertise in its flagship programs—fisheries and marine sciences.
CFMS serves as a distinct degree-granting unit under the University, offering both undergraduate and graduate programs.
Since 2016, the college has been hailed as a CHED Center of Excellence in Fisheries and a Center of Development in Marine Science. It has also been designated by CHED as the National University and College of Fisheries for Region X under the National Agriculture and Fisheries Education System. Its graduates consistently perform well in the Professional Regulation Commission’s licensure examination for fisheries technologists, with passing rates higher than the national average. The College continues to forge academic and research linkages with industries and institutions both locally and abroad. Through these partnerships, the College enhances opportunities for advanced student training, interdisciplinary faculty collaboration, and innovative research initiatives, ensuring the development of graduates who are academically competent, globally competitive, and professionally ready.
