“Community-Based Enterprise Development and Skills Enhancement for Socio-Economic Transformation”

The extension project “Community-Based Enterprise Development and Skills Enhancement for Socio-Economic Transformation” has conducted a workshop on Gender Fair Education Towards a Holistic Understanding of Peace and Violence on December 7, 2022 at Brgy. Balintad, Manticao, Misamis Oriental. Ms. Desheree Judena G. Preciado, Director of MSUN Institute of Peace and Development in Mindanao, and Mr. Jerry Chem M. Marilla, Chair of Peace Education facilitated the one-day workshop. Partner beneficiaries of the project who are also members and officers of Balintad Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative actively participated in the different activities designed to raise awareness about gender principles and precepts and their interplay with peace and security. To attain the objectives of the workshop, participants engaged in a series of group discussions to identify social services, resources available in their area, issues, and concerns for policy support and intervention. At the end of the workshop, participants, facilitators, and project staff signed the Balintad Community Declaration of Peace, reaffirming their commitment to promoting peace toward socio-economic transformation. The activity is part of the social preparation phase of the project which aims to prepare the partner beneficiaries for their responsibilities in the successful implementation of the transformational phase of the project. This is crucial in achieving project sustainability and success. #universityforthecommunity
