Research Capability Workshop for Nurse Educators: Strengthening Research Proposal Writing

To advance the culture of research and empower nurse educators in developing high-quality research outputs, the Department of Nursing under the College of Environment and Life Sciences (CELS), in collaboration with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Global Engagement (OVCRIGE), successfully conducted a Research Capability Workshop entitled: “Strengthening Nursing Research Proposals: Crafting the Introduction, Review of Related Literature, and Methodology” last August 29, 2025, at the Department of Nursing Faculty Office.
The workshop aimed to enhance the nurse educators’ knowledge and skills in preparing research proposals that are rigorous, relevant, and aligned with pressing issues in nursing education and practice.
Dr. Christian V. Villan, RN, served as the resource speaker, guiding his colleagues through key aspects of proposal writing. The discussions highlighted how to frame a compelling research introduction, conduct a comprehensive and critical review of related literature, and design a sound and methodologically appropriate research approach.
Interactive activities, peer discussions, and guided writing exercises allowed participants to apply concepts immediately, producing draft sections of their own proposals by the end of the session.
One of the key outcomes was the participants’ increased confidence in pursuing research projects that not only strengthen nursing education but also contribute to local and national healthcare priorities.
The OVCRIGE commends the active participation of all faculty members and reaffirm their commitment to supporting initiatives that build capacity, foster collaboration, and sustain a strong research culture among nurse educators.
