The benchmarking visit formed part of the City Government of Malaybalay’s Tilapia Hatchery Establishment Project, which aims to enhance local aquaculture production through the adoption of efficient and sustainable hatchery systems.

During the activity, MSU at Naawan shared its best practices in tilapia hatchery operations, highlighting broodstock management, water quality control, and operational strategies that support productivity and sustainability.

The visiting delegation was composed of Ms. Rachelle O. Quidlat, Aquaculturist II; Mr. Marvin L. Zamora, Inland Fisheries Staff; Engr. Oliver P. Cahayag, Engineer IV; Engr. Cherry-Anne O. Egusras, Engineer III; and Engr. Angel Vanessa Araw, Electrical Engineer.

A guided tour of the university’s tilapia hatchery facilities was also conducted, allowing the benchmarking team to observe actual operations and gain firsthand insights into MSUN’s hatchery infrastructure and management systems.

The activity reinforced MSU at Naawan’s role as a hub for knowledge-sharing and technical expertise in aquaculture, while strengthening collaboration between the university and local government units in advancing fisheries development and food security.
