MSU at Naawan Strengthens Ethical Research Culture Through Basic Research Ethics Orientation

On August 1, 2025, the MSU at Naawan Research and Extension Ethics Section conducted a Basic Research Ethics Orientation to strengthen ethical oversight and promote a strong research culture among faculty, staff, and student researchers.

Through engaging lectures, open discussions, and expert guidance, participants enhanced their understanding of research integrity, responsible data management, and ethical considerations in studies involving humans, animals, and the environment.

The program opened with remarks from Dr. Rey Y. Capangpangan, PhD, followed by lectures from distinguished speakers: Richelle A. Niepes, MSc (general principles of ethical research, responsible data management, and ethical use of AI) and Charizze Jean A. Yana, RN, MAN (avoiding research misconduct). Specialized topics on ethics involving human participants, animals, and the environment were presented by Dr. Wenceslao A. Coronado, Jovelyn L. Cabanatan, MA, and Ramon Francisco Q. Padilla, MSc. Additionally, Jessa B. Solis guided participants through the MSU at Naawan ethics review application process.

The training concluded with closing remarks by Sir Edgar Castañares, leaving participants empowered with knowledge and a renewed commitment to uphold research integrity. This initiative underscores MSU at Naawan’s dedication to fostering responsible and ethical research practices, ensuring that every scholarly endeavor contributes to national development while upholding the highest standards of integrity.
