ICYDK: The Mindanao State University at Naawan is a recipient of a grant from The Samdhana Institute, an organization based in Indonesia with funding support from BOTHEnds – The Netherlands for an extension project on community-based enterprise development and skills enhancement for socio-economic transformation which started last August 4, 2022 with the Balintad Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (BFARMCO).
Last February 15, 2023, the project continued its capacity-building activities with the first part of the training workshop on bookkeeping for cooperatives. This was an important event that provided valuable skills and knowledge to BFARMCO, helping them to manage their finances and grow their income-generating activities. The said training workshop aims to provide BFARMCO with a solid understanding of how to keep accurate financial records, how to analyze their financial data, and how to make informed business decisions based on that data.
Mr. Karem A. Palmes, a Certified Public Accountant and Dean of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy, served as the resource person of the training workshop. Mr. Palmes covered a wide range of topics, including the fundamental principles of accounting and bookkeeping, financial statements, and bookkeeping techniques according to the standards and protocols of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).
Overall, the activity will help BFARMCO manage its finances effectively, comply with legal and regulatory requirements, make informed business decisions, and promote transparency and accountability.
