
To celebrate students’ scholastic achievements for the quarter, Mindanao State University at Naawan – Integrated Developmental School (MSUN-IDS) held its Junior and Senior High School Recognition Program on the morning of Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at the MSUN-IDS Covered Court.
Students from Grades 7 to 12 were recognized for their academic excellence with awards presented during the ceremony.
Dr. Emmylou A. Emperador, Dean of the College of Education and Social Sciences, extended her heartfelt congratulations to both the students and their parents for their outstanding achievements. She also expressed her hopes for continued success in the future.
Following the awards presentation, the much-anticipated English Festival began, with the Character Portrayal Contest marking the start of the event.
With the theme, “English as a Global Language: Bridging Cultures, Connecting the World,” students from each year level brought to life various characters from classic literary works, including Pride and Prejudice and Hamlet.
In the afternoon, the Literary Translation Challenge took place, where contestants translated an English story into Bisaya. This was followed by the Philippine Song Anthology Contest, showcasing students’ talent in both performance and cultural appreciation.
The event concluded with an exciting series of games, including Word Jumble, Pictionary, Pinoy Henyo, and Crossword Puzzle, engaging participants in a fun and interactive way.
Assoc. Prof. Jan Cleo D. Canoy delivered closing remarks, expressing his gratitude to the students, organizers, and everyone involved, emphasizing that their collective effort was key to the event’s success.
The English Festival served as a platform for students to demonstrate their language skills while fostering an appreciation for the role of English in bridging cultures and connecting the world.
