
On January 15, 2025, Mindanao State University at Naawan hosted representatives from the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), led by Mr. Sylvester C. Sales, Development Management Officer of MinDA, and Dr. Evelyn B. Taboada, consultant for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
The meeting was convened to conceptualize a proposal for the UNIDO Adaptation Fund, fostering collaboration to address critical environmental and developmental challenges.
Leading the discussions were MSU at Naawan officials, including Chancellor Dr. Elnor C. Roa, Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Global Engagement Dr. Rey Y. Capangpangan, Director for the Research and Innovation Institute Dr. Anabelle Dece A. Espadero, and CAFES faculty members Mr. Christian Fel Batoctoy and Ms. Jolibe B. Llido.
The dialogue centered on aligning local priorities with global objectives, emphasizing climate change mitigation and adaptation, nature-based solutions, and food security. Participants explored innovative strategies to support vulnerable communities in Region 10, promote resource conservation, and enhance regional sustainability.
This collaboration highlights MSU at Naawan’s commitment to leveraging partnerships to drive research and innovation for sustainable development, resource efficiency, and environmental stewardship in the region.
