MSU at Naawan leads academic and exchange program project among universities in the Philippines and Turkey

The partnership mission of the Philippines to Turkey through the project, “Development of Academic and Exchange Programs among Universities in the Philippines and Turkey” triumphantly started with the signing of Memorandum of Understanding with the all the Philippine and Turkish partner universities at the office of the Council of Higher Education (YOK), Ankara, Turkey on September 19, 2022.

The signing is done in the presence of the project leader, MSU Naawan Chancellor, and the head of the Philippine delegation, Dr. Elnor C. Roa, the Vice President of the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YOK), Prof. Dr. H. Haldun Goktaş; and the Philippine Ambassador to Turkey, Ambassador Maria Elena P. Algabre. Each participating university signed an MOU with all six (6) partner Turkish universities, resulting to a number of six partnerships per university.

Other key people in attendance are the presidents, chancellors, and rectors from the various Philippine and Turkish participating universities, respectively. In addition to MSU Naawan, other participating universities from the Philippines are the University of the Philippines Visayas, Dr. Clement Camposano; Mindanao State University-Marawi, Atty. Basari Mapupuno; Iloilo State College of Fisheries, represented by Dr. Noel Armada; Western Philippine University, Dr. Julie Hope Timotea Evina; Southern Philippines Agri Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology, Dr. Ruth Lucero; and Zamboanga City Marine and Zamboanga State College of Marine Science and Technology, Dr. Jaime Jalon. From the Turkish universities are rectors of Ankara University, Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş; Kastamonu University, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal; Isparta University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Çatal; Ege University, Prof. Dr. Necdet Budak; Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Prof. Dr. Sedat Murat; and Karadeniz Technical University, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Çuvalcı.

This project aims to promote academic exchange programs with disciplines related to fisheries; build capability of faculty and researchers in the said field; develop collaborative and integrative research projects; and develop appropriate joint, dual, double or by-research degree programs.

This educational mission is set until September 27, 2022 with the Philippine delegations visiting all Turkish partner universities. This important milestone is also attended by the international affairs coordinators of the partner Turkish universities and vice presidents, vice chancellors, directors, and other officials from the Philippine partner universities.  view gallery
