MSUN-CFMS hosts MSU-MCSE BSF students’ educational field trip

Mindanao State University at Naawan, through the College of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (CFMS), proudly hosted the Educational Field Trip of BS in Fisheries students from MSU Main Campus – Sindangan Extension (MSU-MCSE) on November 6–7, 2025, at the MSUN campus. The two-day academic engagement at the CFMS laboratories and training facilities provided the visiting students with valuable learning experiences in the areas of aquaculture, fish genetics, health management, and nutrition. Specialized lectures and hands-on sessions were conducted by MSUN’s faculty experts, namely: • Ms. Liberty E. Taneo – Fish Genetics and Breeding • Assoc. Prof. Victor R. Navarro – Aquaculture (Shrimp & Tilapia) • Ms. Honielyn Taka – Fish Health Management • Ms. Kezia Esther T. Abal – Fish Nutrition The activity was efficiently coordinated under the supervision of Mr. Josuah D. Zalsos, with Mr. Harvey D. Lobo serving as the event emcee. The program also received dedicated support from Ms. Gailey Hontiveros, Dr. Dan M. Arriesgado, and Ms. Raisah Marie H. Bacasnot, whose assistance throughout the two-day event contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of the program. Moreover, the educational visit fostered academic exchange and collaboration between the two MSU campuses, giving students the opportunity to experience applied learning in a professional research environment. With that, the university extends its appreciation to all lecturers, coordinators, and participating students for their engagement and enthusiasm during the activity. This collaborative endeavor underscores MSUN’s enduring commitment to providing quality, experience-based education and to strengthening academic linkages across the MSU System, especially in the advancement of fisheries science and sustainable marine development.

The Mindanao State University – System Admission and Scholarship Examination (MSU-SASE) hopefuls have just completed their 180-item exam, marking a significant milestone in their journey toward becoming part of the MSU academic community. The exam, which tests a wide range of subjects and skills, has been an important step for thousands of prospective students who aspire to pursue higher education and benefit from the various scholarship opportunities offered by the university system. The examinees faced a comprehensive set of questions that spanned multiple disciplines, including mathematics, science, language, and critical thinking, all designed to assess their readiness for university-level study. With the completion of the exam, these students have taken an important first step toward securing a place at one of the MSU campuses, where they will have the opportunity to thrive academically and contribute to the vibrant and diverse MSU community. The MSU-SASE is not just an admission requirement but also a gateway to numerous academic scholarships, providing financial support and opportunities for talented students across the region. 𝐄𝐘𝐄𝐒 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄: 𝗔𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗦𝗘𝗜 𝗬𝗘𝗦 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗹

Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) awards Youth Excellence in Science (YES) medal to our Mindanao State University at Naawan – Integrated Developmental School (MSUN-IDS) student, Samantha Nicole T. Ablin, on November 30, 2024 at Limketkai Luxe Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City. The YES Awards is an annual DOST institutional award for exemplary youth achievement in the fields of science and mathematics, and comes in the form of a Medal of Distinction bestowed by the DOST Secretary. Symbolizing DOST’s recognition of the achievement of the youth in the fields of STEM and its quest to advance STEM diversity, persistence, and success in the Philippines, the award further signifies the Institute’s desire to produce a critical mass of STEM professionals and develop a strong culture of science in the country. Furthermore, the event was graced by the DOST Undersecretary for Scientific and Technical Services, Usec. Maridon O. Sahagun, the newest director of DOST-SEI, Dr. Jayeel Cornelio, other DOST Officials and administrators.
