The Coral Reef Management Hub CoReM Hub team of MSU at Naawan conducted a Small Scale Fisheries Assessment at Lapinigan Island

Small-scale fisheries are generally more sustainable and environmentally friendly. These fishers often use low-impact fishing techniques that have been honed over generations. These fisheries play a crucial role in supporting local economies, particularly in coastal communities, which provides employment opportunities for local residents, contributing to livelihoods and fostering a sense of community identity, especially in regions where fish is a primary protein source. #SSF#tbtiphilippines Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) are designated areas where human activity is regulated to conserve and protect marine ecosystems and biodiversity. The effectiveness of an MPA depends on its specific context, management, and the cooperation of multiple stakeholders. When properly designed, managed, and supported, MPAs can contribute significantly to the protection and restoration of marine ecosystems and resources. #MPAEffectiveness The Coral Reef Management Hub CoReM Hub team (Prof. Renoir A.
