Congratulations to the graduates and to all their loved ones!
Dear graduates, today's celebration is a salute to your accomplishments. It is a day to reflect on what your days in college have done to you. You have acquired quality education, the most effective tool for changing and shaping your own lives and for changing the world. For the past 4 or 5 years before today, I repeatedly spoke of the essence of our advocacy in this campus, captured in the phrase "the heart of education is the education of the heart", a heart that is willing to serve for the common good. Regardless of where you would go, each of you will definitely travel your own path. Be one with an educated heart and make a decision that you are going to make a difference in the world, even if it is just in one small corner of it.
As you take the journey after today's celebration, remember every event and every individual that helped you become who you are now. Learn lessons from them. Pride consumes! Never be too proud to give credit to whom credit is due. Your parents unconditionally supported you. Your teachers helped and guided you to understand life's inticacies. The administration took every effort to give you the atmosphere conducive for positive learning. Not anyone of them is perfect but they all are united to help you become the best version of you. As you trek life's pathways, never associate with anyone or anything that will make you the lesser version of you. THe best of you makes you excel and succeed. Then, you lighten the burden of your fellow man and you are in a position to give rather than to take.
Remember that we are all different in many ways. God will ultimately hold us accountable for what we were given, not what others have received. Our calling is to be responsible with the opportunities that God provide us. Do your best with what you are given, keeping your character attuned to God's. For in this earth, people do not remember the person with the beautiful face but the one with the most beautiful heart and soul.
Again, my best greetings!
